How we give back.
We try to take our part of responsibility for the environment for climate and biodiversity by only buying certified timber.
Environment is important for us. All our Danish timber is coming from sustainable forests and can be offered as FSC Mix Credit certified or FSC 100% certified.
We have a constant focus on reducing our CO2 in the production. 2 years ago, we build new highly efficient drying chambers, which steam and dry at the same time to save energy.
This year we will receive two more Electric forklifts and in 2022 all forklifts will be electric.
We only source logs from a distance of max. 150 km from the sawmill to limit the transport CO2 footprint.
All waste from production: sawdust, bark, wood chips are being used in our boiler to deliver cheap and sustainable district heating to 1300 housings in our community.

For many years, Denmark and the EU have been working towards using only sustainable wood in construction and furniture production. Hvalsoe Sawmill is a major advocate for sustainable wood, and we only have FSC@ certified (FSC®-C015434) sustainable wood or wood that complies with the EUTR Regulation. As a consumer, sustainable wood that is either FSC® certified or traceable to the EUTR Regulation, gives you the assurance that wood from Hvalsoe Sawmill does not have an unnecessary impact on the environment.
